Autumn walk in Sintra, Portugal.
A great walk in Sintra, Portugal.
Starting point, the National Palace of Sintra also known as Paço Real or Palácio da Vila, situated at the heart of the old town with two huge conical chimneys. Walk up the hill to the Pena Palace and Park a magical fantasy of domes, towers and ramparts crowning the "Serra de Sintra" Sintra hills. Visit the Moorish castle which dates back to the early days of the Moorish occupation of the peninsular in the 8th century having been later taken by Dom Afonso Henriques in 1147, the first Portuguese king. Winding over two ridges, this castle offers fantastic views of the area.
This walk in Sintra takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes and is only 4.5 km an easy walk for a beautiful autumn day.
